Chris Ashe

Chris Ashe died on Maundy Thursday, April 9th, 2020 after an illness. He was a very private, no-nonsense person and refused to acknowledge that he was ill — certainly did not want anyone making a fuss over him about it. He had been living in England for many years, having immigrated there with his family in the early 60s, shortly after he left Mt. Abu. He worked for a long time (20 to 25 years) in a foil manufacturing company and eventually retired. He had made very good friends with a fellow-Indian family (Askay Patel) in Wembley and lived as part of their extended family. They took very good care him in his final years of illness. He loved cricket and was a big fan of the Indian teams, so he had an opportunity to root for them in all the international matches around London.

He did not want a big show to be made over his departure from this life, and asked that those of us who wanted to think of him just light a candle and say a prayer.

We will do that for you, Chris, as it has been our privilege to have had our lives blessed with your personal grace and dignity.
