Ivan was a gem. We had been in touch often. When he was in the US as COO of Diageo, he lived in the neighboring town. We spent every Thanksgiving together (Ivan did the turkey!) For all his accomplishments — and he reached the pinnacle — he remained the same person I knew before, at and after Abu, a sweet, caring, unaffected person. I look at any picture of him on the internet and I see that genuine sweetness showing through. I can’t believe he’s gone. RIP, Ivan.
