Teachers would love to hear from their former students.  You don't have to be mushy and gushy about how they shaped you into a man (with or without a few licks of the strap).  Just the fact that you cared to write, with updates on your classmates and what they're doing, means a great deal.  A few e-mail links are indicated, but those and whereabouts in general are not updated frequently, so take your chances.  E-mail and snail mail addresses for Indian CB schools can be found under Links.

Principals are highlighted in gold.

  • Staff Legends

Anecdote on Br Brown (1947–48), contributed by Aloysius D'Souza (1951):

He made his class write everyday for half an hour with their left hand, if they were right-handed, and vice versa. Nari Contractor, Senior Cambridge class of 1948, who was left handed, fell and broke his left hand just before the Cambridge exams. He wrote his papers with his right hand (Cambridge allowed him extra time).

How about these gems of wisdom from Mr H J Ludwig (Music, 1968-69):

    • “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
    • “Never suppress a sneeze.”
    • “When God made the world he forgot about Mount Abu.”

And this from Br Sarto D'Souza (1998-90):

“All those Abuites who are doing well, if they can help even one Abuite who's not doing too well for himself, … then we at St. Mary's have succeeded in what we wanted to teach them, if not it was all a waste …”
